Tie Down Roping

Tie-down roping requires precise teamwork between a cowboy and his horse. Starting in a box, the cowboy waits for the calf to get a head start before pursuing. Breaking the barrier too early adds a 10-second penalty. Once the calf is roped, the horse stops, and the cowboy dismounts to flank and tie any three of the calf's legs using a pigging string. The horse maintains tension on the rope without dragging the calf. After tying, the cowboy signals completion by raising his hands and waits six seconds to ensure the calf stays tied, or no time is recorded.
